Living room: Spring update and choosing paint colours

I just posted about our current living room and creating a cohesive open floorplan! Our living room is open to the rest of the main floor so we needed to keep it open , airy and coordinated. I really like how it is, but as usual, I have plans for this space!

Mood board

We didn’t paint the living room when we moved in, and we’ve liked and lived with it for a few years now. But the more we’re living here, the more I’d love the walls to be more neutral so I can play around more with the accessories and other decor. I love the Layla Olive / Charcoal rug and I think it would really tie in the colours we have on the first floor, as well as introduce some colours that I can incorporate into the rest of the decor in the space. This rug can read dark in certain rooms, so I’m planning to layer it over a larger light jute rug that we already own. The striped rug that’s in there now would be great in the playroom, family room, or Leo’s big boy room – I always like to reuse and shop my own house if I can.

Keep the current furniture, white paint (graphic from Studio McGee) and the Layla Olive / Charcoal rug from Loloi. Don’t forget the [real and faux ;)] plants!

Choosing paint colours

Our windows are East facing but it can lean a little cool in this room at times. I really want a neutral white, but I think a slightly warmer white would look better in here. I want it to glow!

We have BM Chantilly Lace in our guest bathroom and will be sampling that, but I am open to suggestions! I’m going to be purchasing samples from a new Canadian company called Hello Paint, and I’m so excited to try them out! They spray the actual paint on easy to apply and remove decals that you can use and reuse to place around the room to find your favourite colour. No more messy paint cans, paint brushes or splotches on your walls until you’re ready to paint! They cost less than sample paint cans and are totally reusable! How neat is that? I’m planning to start with their Top 5 Whites collection and go from there. If you’re thinking of painting, I’d really recommend checking them out! Let me know if you do!

Let me know your thoughts on white paint. Do you have a favourite?
